Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs or “drones”) are now widely used in a rapidly growing variety of applications. The FAA noted the commercial and civilian use of drones to be the “fastest growing field in aviation.”

Drones are helping to create a whole new means of realizing the American dream. Michael Huerta, FAA Administrator
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) expects sales of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for commercial purposes to grow from 600,000 in 2016 to 2.7 million by 2020. Commercial drones are used for aerial inspection, photography and survey in ever-expanding applications. In Illinois, the top ten industries* using drones are: Real Estate, Construction, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Filmmaking, Event, Utilities, Emergency Management, Advertising and Search and Rescue.
The FAA has released the much-anticipated Part 107 regulations, which allow anyone to fly drones commercially after passing the Part 107 Aeronautical Knowledge Test. The test is quite challenging, requiring the prospective Drone pilot to have a solid understanding of aeronautical charts, weather, weather reports, Air Traffic Control communications, and safe unmanned operations in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace.
Attend our information session to learn about the FAA requirements and the new Harper course to prepare for the Part 107 exam. The course also includes hands-on experience flying a commercial drone. This program is intended for individuals intending to enter the Unmanned Aviation Industry as a Professional. RSVP online or call 847.925.6300.
