This year, we are celebrating Harper College’s 50th Anniversary and we would like to invite you to be a part of the celebration. As a student, instructor or patron of our Community Music and Arts Center, you have not only sought to continually develop your artistic skill and appreciation, but to keep the arts alive in our community. We would now like to invite you to share something of your work with our community.
On Saturday, April 14, Harper College will be holding an on-campus Community Day as a part of our yearlong 50th Anniversary celebration. In the afternoon, Continuing Education will be holding an InspireU program which will include a combination of short lectures and workshops, musical performances, an arts hunt, and a virtual art show. Visit our Community Day page and InspireU page for full event schedules.
Our InspireU Virtual Art show will feature a slideshow of art and books created by Harper CE students and instructors.
The Arts Hunt is open to our entire community. We welcome any books, music CDs or small pieces of art that you would like to donate (whether you created them or acquired them). These items will be placed in Arts Hunt packages and hidden in designated areas of the campus. Lucky finders can keep the item or pass it along to someone else. You may just find one yourself while you’re at Community Day! Details for donations to both events are provided below. Questions? Contact email@example.com.
VIRTUAL ART SHOW OF CE STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS: ARTISTS AND AUTHORS
ARTISTS: We invite you to submit one photograph of your painting or drawing, photography, or 3D art (including ceramics and bronze sculpture) to be included in our show. Here is your challenge, what is the one piece of work that you think best represents you? Submit a photograph of that work to us along with your name, the year you competed the work and its title (if you have one).
AUTHORS: We invite the authors in our writing program to submit a picture of you holding your book(s) along with the title and year of publication.
We will assemble these photos into a slide show shown in Building D during the InspireU event. Then, we will print the show into a small format book that will be included in a time capsule that our Library staff is assembling, to be opened 50 years from now! We will also include the slideshow on our blog,harpercollegece.com.
Please email the photograph of your artwork or book to Laura: firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject InspireU Art.
The deadline for receiving your picture is Monday, April 2, 2018.
ARTS HUNT – ARTISTS, AUTHORS AND MUSICIANS (Creators or Fans)
Also on April 14, we will be holding an Arts Hunt on the campus. We will be hiding books, small original pieces of art, and music (CDs, website address to listen to music, etc.) for people to find around campus as a gift. If you would like your work to be included, donate a book, small piece of art, or music that you have made. We will be happy to include your details along with the donated piece, and hide it around the campus so that it becomes someone else’s treasure. We are also happy to accept any books, music CDs, or small pieces of art that you no longer use and would like to donate.
You may drop off your book, music or art donation(s) at our Registration Desk in the lobby of Building W (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) or mail items to:
Continuing Education, Attn: Laura Ehrke
Harper College, Building W, W325
1200 West Algonquin Rd
Palatine, IL 60067-7398
The deadline for receiving art, book and music donations is Monday, April 9, 2018.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating your accomplishments. Harper College is an important part of our community and we are glad that you are a part of the extraordinary Harper College community.
