Free courses will start January 2020
The Susan Harwood Grant provides free safety awareness training to small businesses in the Harper community. The grant targets businesses with 250 or less employees, and workers with low literacy, limited-English proficiency, temporary, minority or other hard to reach workers.
Harper will be offering free 2, 4 and 6 hour safety awareness courses.
Accidents can happen anywhere – in retail stores, offices, schools, manufacturing facilities and at home. This training will help HR and safety managers, small business owners, supervisors, and employees in all settings to recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards.
Courses will help increase awareness of workplace hazards and how to prevent them; the goal is to create a safer environment for all employees.
Benefits of attending the training are:
• Greater employee involvement and safety
• Employee retention
• Lower workman’s compensation claims and cost
• Reduction in absenteeism
• Increased employee morale
• Stronger relationship between employees and management
• Strengthened industry reputation for safety
